We are searching for a Project Manager and a Project Specialist with solid capital project experience in the mining and heavy engineering industries.

The Project Manager will take accountability at an operational level for the planning and delivery of the assigned project / scope of work.

The Project Specialist will work closely with the Project Manager to support and facilitate all accountabilities.

These roles are based in the Northern Cape and will require permanent relocation to the Northern Cape. Relocation will be covered by the employers and housing is heavily subsidised. AA female candidates will be first preference, or African/Indian/Coloured males.

Essential requirements:

• Technical 3 year Degree (NQF Level 7) – essential
• Qualification in Project Management
• 8-10 yrs (for the PM), 5yrs+ (for the Project Specialist) exp in heavy industry construction management
• Exp in Plant construction and commissioning
• Multi-disciplinary engineering exp
• Mining industry exp

Additionally the PM should have:

• Exp in the development of project studies and study portfolios
• SHE management within the MHSA framework
• Commercial exposure of contract negotiations and contract conditions
• Commercial exposure of dispute resolution
• Exp in environment authorisation

General responsibilities will include:

• Safety leadership and modelling to all parties
• Development of an integrated plan for the scope of work
• Set-up of controls as per project charter to ensure delivery
• Effective leadership of cross-functional teams
• Progress Reporting
• Organising the work into phases
• Assists in preparing the project plan and approvals
• Create project charter and definition of completion criteria
• Set project and activity goals and priorities
• Identify changes in work scope, reassess, amend work requirement, budget, timeline
• Assist in compiling a complete and accurate estimate of the project(s)
• Assist in managing financial aspects of the project, incl budget, estimate to actual variance, capital project management
• Monitor performance against plan
• Relationship management with all project stakeholders and resolving issues related to client relations, government relations, project quality, project risk, project safety
• Oversee reporting
• Assist in appointing the owners’ team
