A great opportunity with a top mining company for an exceptionally competent Snr Engineering Manager with strong HME exp in an opencast mining environment.
B.Eng degree (Mech or Electr) with a completed GCC Mines & Works and solid working experience in asset management and yellow fleet is essential.
- Contributes to the development of the strategic mine plans and strategy.
- Develops, implements and monitors engineering maintenance, risk and operational strategies and plans. Provides and oversees engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.
- Leads and manages resources to deliver production targets and projects as required.
- Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Manages implements and contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimization initiatives and projects for engineering processes.
- Ensure that an executable asset management strategy for Mining Maintenance exists and is revised to ensure maximum productivity.
- Monitor that the maintenance and replacement strategy ensure that equipment perform economically over their life cycle.
- Ensure the availability of equipment and tools is equal to or higher than budgeted for, and the ratio of planned versus unplanned maintenance is within the 80/20 target
- Ensure that the correct procedures are followed with the appointment of contractors to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and statistics.
- Ensure that all work and services are monitored closely to ensure compliance to contract specifications by contractors and service providers.
- Monitor that Contractor outputs are optimized for economical sustainability and their payments are managed according to the project plan and retention agreement.
- Manage the Asset Management and Engineering’s expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings.
- Manage a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractor can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
- Keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met
- Optimize human resources in a way that maximum output is delivered by the section as a whole.
- Ensure work ethics is of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance.
- Requirements:
- B.Eng Degree – Mechanical/Electrical Engineering essential
- Leadership Qualification/MDP or PME will be advantageous
- Government Certificate of Competency M&W essential
- Valid South African Driver’s license essential
- 5 Years Maintenance / Engineering operations experience in a mining environment
- 3 Years Management experience in a mining/operational environment
- Computer literacy: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Relevant managerial experience within mining industry essential
- Senior Engineering experience
