Reporting to the Principal Capital Finance, this role will contribute to the development of an integrated techno-economic and long to medium term financial plan across the company’s projects through the delivery of models, systems and databases to remain current to latest developments in the relevant fields.

 

Essential requirements for the role include:

  • Proven financial modelling valuation experience, in Excel, in mining/resources/power/infrastructure environment
  • Minimum qualification:
    • Undergraduate Finance/commercial degree with relevant financial modelling experience;
    • OR Technical degree relevant to mining (e.g. engineering/geology etc) with proven financial modelling experience
  • Proven ability to work with finance staff and adhere to financial reporting timelines etc.
  • Ability to engage and influence across all sectors of an organisation i.e. must be able to engage effectively with the CFO/CEO but also with lower levels e.g. project or mine accountants
  • Good written communication skills. Especially someone who can explain clearly in writing what the outputs from a financial model mean

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Owner of the main Corporate model, responsible for:
    • Ensuring the integrity of the model and its mathematical calculations;
    • Reviewing the inputs into the model for reasonability;
    • Updating the model, both in terms of inputs, and model structure, as may be required
    • Summarise the key financial analysis points arising from the model, to provide input to executive decision-making on value impact of key decisions
  • The above includes providing financial modelling services and different strategic scenarios and other analytical services to internal departments.
  • Build specific techno-economical knowledge;  scan and utilise all internal and external sources of new knowledge (e.g., research, industry best practice)
  • Where necessary, build bespoke modelling analysis in Excel or other relevant software platforms
  • Ensure the quality of data input into the model and intelligently quantify key areas of uncertainty; and/or quantify key inputs required from other areas, e.g. Mining Technical
  • Contribute to the development of long- and medium-term financial reports
  • Audit integrity of developed techno-financial models
  • Where necessary, manage implementation of new strategic financial modelling software (e.g. @Risk or HSF) and be responsible for conducting modelling in this platform
  • Plan and manage work flow, and prioritise work based on critical company goals; in collaboration with line manager.
  • Populate templates required for Group Reporting, i.e. Corporate Finance valuation model template
